This is a cover that features somewhat obscure characters from the biggest publishers on the market. And this is the idea behind the special 'HERO RESCUE' label... bringing characters somewhat forgotten by the publishers themselves into the spotlight.
Captain Comet is an old-time hero, having debuted in 1951 in the issue 'Strange Adventures #9' by DC Comics. Captain Universe was created by Marvel in 1979, in 'Micronauts #8', created by Bill Mantlo/Michael Golden. It is interesting to note that Captain Universe is not a specific persona, but rather a physical manifestation of the Uni-Power. In this edition, the Uni-Power is manifesting dangerous levels of radiation, which causes Captain Comet to try to prevent access to our planet... a powerful clash between the stars! Both characters appear here or there in the publishers, but they deserved more space!
