Description
Where to begin? Well, BETTY CAP began as a rather bizarre story, one I eventually reworked a little bit (In the same manner I did with BOBBY ROCKET). I had a lot of video games in my head, like Earthbound or the Super Mario games, where there's a lot of magical and seemingly ridiculous items one would have to collect. I also thought of those paintings on the walls of Peach's castle in Super Mario 64, not to mention Wreck It Ralph and how he was able to hop through other video game worlds. That said, BETTY CAP doesn't hop through video game worlds, so much as just worlds in general.I haven't hammered out all the ideas yet, but for the most part, BETTY CAP is a girl from a small town somewhere in Missouri (My home state, many of my characters living here) who feels somewhat bored with the mundane small town life. Due to various circumstances, she eventually goes inside a weird mansion, where there are more doors than anything else. They're on the walls, on the floor and even the ceiling. I even remember two wizards, a good one and a bad one, who merely looked like two old men at first (A grouchy one and a friendly one). Eventually the good one gives BETTY a magic ball cap which turns her invisible if she flips it backwards (???), tennis shoes which help her run really fast and a baseball bat called the RED SLAMMER which can break just about anything. Oh yeah, her clothes and shoes interact with her hat and turn her invisible. Like a video game, she would often have to collect items to defeat the various perils in her way.
Apparently, one of these doors in this house of doors would lead to one of many countless worlds. She would go to a western world, a sci fi world, a really boring chick flick world, etc. She'd meet all kinds of allies, enemies and annoying people in between. Along with the video game inspiration, the story was also influenced by Alice in Wonderland or the Wizard of Oz. I also naturally based many of these worlds she would visit on movies, video games, tv shows or whatever else I found interesting. Her story is still being worked on, so I might not have many more BETTY CAP drawings in the near future. Hope you like the concept though!!!
