Description In 2013 I made quite a bit of new concepts, as I mentioned in a description of one of the ERO VANTUS drawings I posted recently (As of 1/31/20). This drawing contains a few of the concepts I made in that generation of characters.

First off a small disclaimer, RHINO P.I. may have come before 2013, but I remembered developing his character in 2013 mostly so that's why he counts as being in this generation. Also, the concept for the story that BLUEMUTT would become a part of was technically in my mind before 2013, as far back as 2008, but it wasn't until 2013 that all the pieces came together. Finally, BOMBEAR is actually a concept that spun off of a stuffed animal I had as a kid, one I pretended threw bombs for some reason. That was back in the early 2000s, or possibly even the 90s, but this current version of BOMBEAR was designed in 2013. With all that said, I should continue describing why 2013 was an epic year for ACTECH STUDIOS.

One of my most unique friends is David Schlicher, and around this time he approached Estan Keeler , William Johnson and myself with helping him and someone else develop a card game. He called it "Jaldes", and he asked us to draw some prototype cards that could be used in the game. Here's the thing, while William and Estan are real pros at playing Yu Gi Oh and probably other card games......I'm not. It's a little bit out of my wheelhouse. I can play Solitaire and War and that's probably it as far as my card playing skills go......oh yeah, Uno, I guess that counts too. However, I'm obviously quite creative, so I mainly focused on creating mythologies for scores of new characters.

I drew cards based on STARGUARD, DEMONSTRYKE and DRAGONMAGE just for fun, but then came a whole bunch of new concepts. I made two sets of cards called "Tavo" and "X", and the story was that there was something going on in the background called the X WARS. X was a bad guy that was loosely based on something I created as a kid in the early 2000s, and CHRISTOPHER TAVO was a character I loosely based on Solid Snake from the Metal Gear Solid games (I liked playing as him in Super Smash Bros Brawl, that's the extent of my Metal Gear Solid fandom, I just never had time to play his original games). I had this scenario going on in the back of my head, and I think that actually interested me more than the card game itself.

David had a scenario of his own, one I loosely connected the X WARS to, but just in case the card game wouldn't work out I could easily disconnect it (And at present that seems to be the case). I created a narrative that went all over the ACTECH STUDIOS multiverse at the time, and one of the cool things I did with it were write how a few already established ACTECH characters met some new ones.

For example, STARGUARD accidentally fell to the world of CHRISTOPHER TAVO, and that's what made X aware of the multiverse in the first place. I would even make a team of heroes I wound up giving the name 13 WARRIORS to, and these were the members of this temporary team:

CHRISTOPHER TAVO (Their leader)
STARGUARD
DEMONSTRYKE
DRAGONMAGE
ERO VANTUS
RED NAGEN
BLUE NAGEN
JENOVA MARS
MS. JOLT
STRYKER HARE
PROTA
CHAINSAW ED
ZOKEVA

It was within this narrative that the foundations for the ERO QUEST stories were made, as well as the FEUDLANDS franchise that I one day hope to turn into a fighting game or something (That's where the NAGEN BROTHERS come from). The only members that had been developed the most at that point were STARGUARD, DEMONSTRYKE and DRAGONMAGE, and DRAGONMAGE had only been around for like three years. Even then DEMONSTRYKE had more than earned his reputation as one of my best characters, and STARGUARD was STARGUARD so there you go.

I got pretty carried away with the concept, and soon it seemed to transcend the card game almost completely. I created more new characters in that world than ever before, before 2013 my busiest year was 2008 (It might still be, I'm not sure, I'll have to sit and think about that someday). I wanted to make new worlds in the background, and that's a big reason why ZOJAK: THE MONSTER FIGHTER, BOMBEAR and BLUEMUTT were created.

BLUEMUTT is now a part of a series of stories I'm calling called EARTH BAD CHRONICLES, and it's set in a dystopian future where everything went to heck. When I originally thought of the concept I wanted to take characters from Scholastic Books and reinvent them, but while I did somewhat keep that theme in the back of my head I've since deviated quite a bit from it.

The new BOMBEAR design came from my love for the Sonic SatAM cartoon, I wanted a fun animal hero who while cute was still pretty epic. Like ERO VANTUS I had ideas on turning him into a video game around that time, or at least the concept. Bomberman was another piece of influence, as was Megaman I think, along with all sorts of things.

ZOJAK: THE MONSTER FIGHTER came to be because, also around this time, Estan was letting me borrow his Power Rangers DVD collection. By 2019 I've finally seen everything up to Super Ninja Steel, and yeah I became a fan all over again, not just of the Power Rangers but the tokusatsu format in general. Somehow ZOJAK was born out of my desire to tell a similar kind of story, and he's since grown into one of the ACTECH mascot characters, not to mention one of my most powerful characters.

Oddly enough, RHINO P.I. actually didn't have anything to do with the X WARS storyline. He was just created around this time (I think), and I remember making the character while I was standing in line at Walmart. I just thought of how neat it would be if a rhino were a private detective, and there you go that's the story behind RHINO P.I.

Well there you go gang, that's the epic story behind the 2013 Generation of ACTECH STUDIOS characters.

Hope you like it!!!
