Description
My first years final work, and lemme tell ya, it was quite a ride. The (1) ring had to have (2) a pre-made form (the base of the garden), a (3) stone fitting, (4) a moving part and (5) had to have at least 1 traditional goldsmithing method used. The ring had to be (6) inspired by a historical culture or a art style (7) somehow relevant to goldsmithing. And that's just the ring, on top of that we made technical drawings and all that on top.So yeah, I based my ring on art nouveau and the untameable nature of... well nature. It started with the form we were given. I hated it. It was large and clumsy and overall just... AAAARGH! But yeah, I soon came to the conclusion I couldn't make an ''everyday ring'' and chose to just let the flow take me away, make an ''Art ring''. And I chose to break the mold by making a bonsai tree burst through it, with the tree growing on the surface and the roots expanding underneath it. The stone fitting and the moving part are a Shishi odoshi. You know, that bamboo thing that makes noise. for the surface, I made a silver granulation (those tiny tiny silver balls covering the entire surface). Oh and the bonsai tree. That is made of over half a hundread silver wires wit a diameter of a quarter of a millimetre. Yeah, small stuff. The whole thing took me a week to make, and I am quite proud of it.
The ring is made of sterling silver, the stone is a light blue zirconia.
