“Why have you stopped walking?” asked Martina, puzzled by her prisoner’s sudden refusal to to take another step. She sighed. Male pride again. When WILL these jerks accept that there ARE women in the police force and now and that they WILL get arrested by them if they insist on committing crimes? “Come on, Paul,” the woman told the stubbornly motionless and handcuffed man, “it’s a bit late to get all macho on me now - the time for that was when I told you put your hands behind your back. Which you did without a fight, I seem to remember!”
“It’s not that, ma’am,” her captive replied humbly, “it’s just that if I take another step with you holding me by my cuffs like this, I may have - er - an “accident”.”
Martina sighed again. Not another one! “All right, Paul,” the policewoman said, and stopped trying to propel the embarrassed man forward, “let’s take a moment…”
