Description According to legend (some of the legends, anyway) Merlin was seduced and trapped in a stone by Nimue (also called Niniane), a sorceress, sometimes his apprentice (in Malory, she is the Lady of the Lake).

Thanks! I've never wanted to get stuck in the rut of a single style. There's so much to explore in so many different directions. And now, I begin to find ways of expressing some of that. I'll never give up Nature shots (in fact there's a new batch going up as we speak), but it's hardly my only interest, and I'm hoping this Autumn will yield a nice variety of works in different styles.

It depends on the version of the legend. In Malory, she is the Lady of the Lake.

Really interesting piece! I know very little about Arthurian Mythology, but the still subject fascinates me. Loved the background and both your facial expression and *Gwenhwyfar28 's.

ohhh, i see...you're 'trapped in stone?!' the one you sent me via MSN wasn't that big, i couldn't make it out...very cool sweetie, i like yours better than mine! oddly enough, though it's the same picture of me, i look more devious in this one, i just look slightly bored in mine

Anytime! I enjoyed it muchly. I suppose I could be turning to stone. . .same basic idea. And I love the look on your face, here, like she's saying, "so long, sucker!" I didn't realize they wouldn't come through bigger when you saved them. Next time, we'll figure out a better way to send stuff over. This has been fun!
