I'm so completely engaged in what I'm doing that time is passing in increments that seem impossible. Rather than dragging days that suck the life out of me, I am more and more energized than ever doing what I'm doing now. While it's not always smooth sailing (AI is very hard to control, at least, with what I'm asking it to do), I find that the challenges are usually n+1.

If you don't know n+1, it means your current level plus just one more up. This means that the challenge is enough to be engaging, but not so high that you end up frustrated and wanting to give up. This n+1 state can induce flow, and that flow is the reason why time is moving like this. My normal day job is at times is n, n-1, or n+100, so it's hard to get in the zone then.
