He is sure to notice the changes that have accrued in his absence. Obvious things of course, like the statue whose head has tumbled to the ground, and the ravages of earthquakes and invasions.
But there are little things, too.
For example, the stone Pharoah still sits on his Sun Throne, but the surface of the sandstone of this carving is no longer smooth. Sandstorms have abraded the surface over the years, leaving the Pharoah's dermis pitted and rough.
Thus the first order of business is to restore the statues' smoothness. Anubis shall summon the workmen, the Pharoah sanders, and set them to their tasks.

(Imagine the chagrin of Anubis when the only one to respond to his summons was Pharoah Sanders himself, an American jazz tenor saxophone player!)
