Gear Second"Yeah, I wanted some inking practice and I love One Piece and haven't done a fan-art of any sort for years so it made sense to try a Luffy fan-art. So I chose to try to recreate the last panel of chapter 387, one of my favorite panels in the series. All and all it came out pretty well but I messed up a few tiny details, after all I'm still kind of an inking novice. This version has the contrast all the way up too so it lost some detail in doing that. Anyways, I like it and maybe you will too.
EDIT: Went back and took the original into photoshop and adjusted the contrast through curves, should be a LITTLE better now.

I never followed one piece (i saw a few dubbed episodes on toonami a while back), but this is actually very good! i went OneManga.com and saw the panel...besides the contrast difference, they look pretty much the same. And if you did that freehand just by looking at the picture, then you are amazing, sir.
Oh, and you're missing some of the kana from the top of the page.
but great job! I would like to see this colored sometime.

Yeah I left that sfx kana out because it wasn't necessary, I only left the big ol' "Ta-dum!" in there because it's a staple of the series more or less and I didn't wanna bother filling in the empty space left behind with my own steam since it wouldn't look as good. Yes, I freehanded the whole thing with pencil and basically detailed everything with pencil first and made sure everything looked great before I started inking. His left big toe is too small lol, I keep seeing that every time I look at it. As always, thanks for the scrutiny and critique as well as the 
P.S. As far as Shonen mangas go, One Piece is pretty damn good, nice mix of humor, action, and of course a great story. It's starting to get really interesting since they just hit the Red Line, but I would definitely recommend trying reading it sometime if you've got some free time and nothing else to do. Especially Enies Lobby and Thriller Bark, two of the best arcs in my opinion.

I'm not knocking your opinion or anything, that's yours, your entitled to it and that's great. All I'm saying is, if you don't like One Piece, you don't have to comment on the One Piece fan-art. Anyways, all that aside, thanks for the comment.
