Description
This morning, one of our senior researchers Dr. Maya Lang started complaining of severe headaches and visual and auditory hallucinations. Thinking she may have become prepay to vassals or another creature, she was sent to therapy in order to recover. After multiple rounds of intensive therapy as well as treatment with strong amnestic medications, it seemed that no progress was being made. As a last resort, we decided to use a new, experimental hypnotherapy which would allow Dr. Lang to access the mental plane and confront whatever was affecting her mind head on. The risks involved in this meant that Dr. Lang would be closely monitored by a team of therapists and she would only have a maximum of 30 minutes before she would be woken up. The treatment will take place at 12:30pm.

Addendum:

Something went terribly wrong. While Dr. Lang was only supposed to remain in a state of hypnosis for only 30 minutes, something appears to have made contact with her, trapping her within the mental plane for over 18 hours. When Dr. Lang eventually awoke, she was screaming nonsense and looking around in a state of delusion. Site doctors and therapists managed to calm her down enough to ask her what happened. She told us that, while she was in the mental plane, she felt something rip her mind deeper within the mental plane than she was ever supposed to see. When we asked her what she saw, she told us that she was trapped within a void of infinite darkness and could hear and infinite number of voices surrounding her, all screaming and whispering at once. She turned and came face to face with Za’raat himself. When asked to describe what she saw, Dr. Lang only described him as, “a singularity of madness so pure it could destroy the minds of gods”. While Dr. Lang could not explain his physical appearance, she produced the drawing seen above. Every researcher who has viewed this drawing has experienced feelings of intense discomfort with some even claiming to hear whispers within their minds. Dr. Lang seems to have been stabilized for now and, as such, was allowed to return to her work as normal.

Addendum #2:

This morning, Dr. Lang was unfortunately found dead in her office. One of her junior researcher Dr. Sean Harris entered her office to hand in a report and found Dr. Lang’s body slumped over her desk. The autopsy report concluded that Dr. Lang had died due to blunt trauma to her head. It seems that Za’raat had been mentally torturing Dr. Lang, finally shattering her mind and causing her to kill herself by repeatedly bashing her head against her desk until her skull caved in. A note was discovered on her desk, starting off as a relatively normal suicide note but quickly devolving into incomprehensible, insane ramblings, stained with blood. A memorial service is being planned for Dr. Lang and all researchers who worked under her have been afforded a month’s paid vacation to grieve. Research into project Cerebra has been given top priority. Accessing the mental plane is paramount to understanding and eventually combatting this threat.
