Pathfinder-5 deploys her solar sails, 1974. This mission was part of a technology demonstration fly-off to decide whether solar sails or ion drives would be used for the planned Halley Rendezvous mission.From my Kolyma's Shadow alternate history timeline, which diverges from our history with the death of rocket designer Sergie Korolev in the Kolyma gulag.
