Description
Just a head this time. I'm very sorry for the poor quality of this picture.. took it last night with a half dead camera. It's now completely dead. Argh, etc etc. This guy was my first try at a bird, and I'm quite happy with him. The photo does NOT do him justice at all! He has a beak made from a Celluclay/Milliput mix, and his crest is made from dyed ostrich feathers. His beak is also metallic gold, so it photographed badly.
If you'd like your own costume head, then I'm taking one cheap commission right now in return for a new camera. Details are here - [link]
Shameless plug, I know, but I gotta have a camera.

Wow, that's super! Love the shaping around the face. Ah, someday I'll make my own mask. Maybe.

Wow, that's beautiful. I love the darker tone of red you used. Most people go with a very bright one for a Phoenix. Wonderful job on the beak too. The shape of it looks perfect for this type of bird.
Kind of random but would you believe me if I told you I thought about making a Phoenix kind of like this? I was going to do the whole body and make him about three-four feet tall, covering the whole body with feathers. Feathers are darn expensive though. It looks like you used that fur material they sell at craft stores. Is that what it is?

Oh my gosh...that is sooo awesome! It looks just like Fawkes from Harry Potter. Wonderful job, that'd be great for Halloween!
