Description
The Mars helicopter climbed to a new record altitude of 20 meters during its 59th flight on Mars, which took place on Sept. 16, 2023 (Sol 915 of the Perseverance mission), where it stayed for 142.6 seconds. The previous maximum altitude was 18 meters.Because this was a pop-up flight (a hover flight), the horizontal flight distance was 0 meters and the groundspeed was 0 m/s.
The image was taken by the RTE (Return To Earth) color camera during the previous flight (58th flight on Mars) on September 11, 2023.
At the time the image was taken, Ingenuity was at an altitude of 10 meters.
