Description The two still active rovers Curiosity and Perseverance, the Ingenuity helicopter and the probes in Mars orbit are back from solar conjunction and are going about their work as usual.

Perseverance drove a short distance to the west a few hours ago and approached a rock formation called "Barrabiddy".

The outcrop has very interesting textures, such as the wind-abraded smooth rock faces, those features caught the attention of team members. What added to the intrigue is this rock seems to be part of an exposed outcrop that is in contact with the underlying bedrock.

The image is based on 2 frames taken by the right navigation camera on December 4, 2023 (Sol 991). It was then cropped and optimized in terms of color (RGB), contrast and brightness.

The exact position data of the rover are not yet available, but the new location of Perseverance is only a few meters from the spot where the rover spent the solar conjunction in November.
