Description
One of the greatest love stories of all time. Slash or not, it doesn't matter how you look at it.I obviously ran into some trouble in certain areas (damn you, Paul's arm) but I didn't want to erase yet again and risk making those areas look even worse. The good outweighs the bad.
John's face...I love it.

Their hair is incredible. How do you do this?? When I try to do shine on hair it looks like white highlights.

Thanks! Trial and error with the hair; I had to find the perfect balance of shading and erasing. Do you use kneaded erasers by any chance? Because they're excellent for creating a natural-looking shine!

To be honest, I had not even heard of them up until now. My art is still very much at the HB pencils and using my bed as a desk stage - which is probably why I can't get the hair right.

Oooh, definitely invest in one! They're affordable and work wonders.

In that case I shall. Oh, hang on...I just looked it up and I do know this stuff. I always called it putty rubber. I think I have a lump of it somewhere, I'll have to try and hunt it out.

I'm really impressed by Paul's hair and John's head! It's so meticulously done it's hard not to admire it.

Thanks! Haha, I spent a lot of time on John's head, actually. I'm somewhat of a perfectionist about certain things.

Yeah! It's good to be the a perfectionist sometimes. It gets the job done well.

lovely. just lovely.
art doesn't have to be "perfect." it's all relative.
i think the poses and shapes of their bodies
are perfect, if not "perfect." (who would want "perfection," anyways?)

The lighting and atmosphere of this is great. You can totally feel the artificial light in the car, and the headlights in the back window are a cool detail. Their faces and hair are stellar! The hair looks incredibly real. The pose looks more stiff than relaxed, but their expressions really set the tone of this piece. Love how John's squinting slightly at the paper.
What a great portrait of these two!

There are also some trashy little things written on the back of the notebook, but I don't think you'd be able to see it from the scan

I don't think I've ever had a more awkward time trying to figure out a pose! That's what I get for deciding to start with the heads. The fact that I loved their faces is what kept me going. I don't know if it's obvious or not, but John is sort of balled-up (lol) and leaning on his knee.
And thank you! I agree about the atmosphere. What would've made it perfect, in my opinion, would be raindrops on the window. But I didn't have the patience for that.
I like to imagine that they're on their way home after a hectic day. They look tired.

It immediately reminded me of all the times I've been in the back of a car at night in a strange place, waiting to get to a hotel so I could sleep properly. A good and bad feeling.

I know that feeling. Like when I've been out all day and want to get home as soon as possible, but the ride back seems three times longer than usual. I'll usually just stare out the window, look at the sky, and daydream.
