Description Every picture tells a story
A story that is too long to tell
But to short to forget
Looking at the picture of you
I remember
The question that started it all
And your embarrassment at my answer.
I try to forget
My pathetic attemts at braiding your hair.
It was so long,
So wild.
Like you.
You didn’t care though,
Just laughed as you sat between my legs.
Your eyes sparkled like cut amber.
As we sat on the hill and talked.
The sun setting.
Vibrant hues of orange and purple filled the sky.
But all I could see was you.
You tried to convince me that you were trying to avoid someone.
That you didn’t want go to dinner.
Or inside,
Or even to get a coat.
I didn’t believe you
But I didn’t care.
I remember the softness of your cheek.
Like a warm breeze.
The smell of you as you lent close
Still fills my memories.
The feeling of you as you wrapped your arms around me
And held me forever.
But then it was over.
You pushed me away
So suddenly.
So completely.
I can still feel your stare
Across the dining hall.
I know you still care,
But things can never be the same.
As we pass in the halls,
I pretend like nothing happened.
I might say hello or smile.
But that is it.
It can never be the same
And I will never know why.
Now I am standing here,
Alone.
With a hole in my heart
And a picture of you
