Description
This is inspired by Nostalgia Critic's review of Osmosis Jones. The skits where the emotions from Inside Out interact with Osmosis Jones made me think of "What if it was the actual characters interacting instead?" Like the actual designs and not just people in costumes.Just for the record, I really like Osmosis Jones for what it is. Even if it had problems that kinda brought it down in the end. But really, aside from 3 similar creative concepts, both films are pretty different. Just pointing that out there.
Joy, Sadness, Anger, Disgust, and Fear (c) Pixar
Osmosis Jones (c) Warner Bros.

One thing that frustrates me is those people who come up with great ideas and then thinking that excuses them from doing anything with those concepts. Β It's not just here, M. Night Shyamalan stumbled on to the gritty superhero movie eight years before The Dark Knight with Unbreakable, but he backloaded all the cool ideas he could have made into a twist ending. Β I've heard good things about that movie, but it was his second and final movie that the general consensus says was good. Β Drawn Together brings together cartoon characters from different eras, but they all reach Jersey Shore levels of being unlikable. Β According to Mr. Enter review of Shorty McShortshorts, both Too Many Robots (9:40-11:26 in the video) and Flip Flopped (14:10-16:21) fall into this category as well. www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXfWwOβ¦ fact, Mr. Enter currently has a team together that is making a show that is basically Flip Flopped done right.Β www.youtube.com/watch?v=b4eRv6β¦

Well it's not like Osmosis Jones invented the concept. That episode of Fairly OddParents where Timmy, Cosmo and Wanda explore the inner workings of Vicky's body I think came out the same year as Osmosis Jones. The idea was done when that film came out. Just saying.

I prefer Inside Out. Osmosis Jones, while it did have its moments (Particularly Pikachu's cameo and the "dangly thing" scene) was kinda dark and sad and it made me cry a lot after I saw it.

Osmosis Jones can't sue. Inside Out is about the workings of the human mind, not the human body. Osmosis Jones doesn't even have emotion charactersΒ in it, and how can a white blood cell controlΒ the dialog the host is saying?

At least Inside Out didn't have any un-subtle celebrity cameos. "Kid-ney Rock" anyone?Β

I do like both films, too. I don't really regard them that similar as Osmosis Jones takes place inside the human BODY, organs and such, and Inside Out takes place in the human MIND. Two different worlds.

Wasn't there a disney short before any of them with the whole idea? Emotion and Reason?

That's sorta my only considerable problem with Inside Out. Β There aren't enough characters that represent reason. Β Kinda wish it was half and half.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks that. Osmosis Jones may have its flaws, but at least it didn't have an annoying Pink Elephant abomination. Seriously I really hated Bing Bong...

Oh I know that. Really, the concept was done when Osmosis Jones and Herman's Head did it. Heck, there's even a french-japanese cartoon called "Once Upon A Time, Life", which is similar to both Inside Out and Osmosis Jones. Heck it even has the same concept where white blood cels are cops, and germs and viruses are criminals. Just like Osmosis Jones.
The thing is, people get SO caught up with originality, and need to realize that execution is far more important.

Osmosis Jones' animated portions were excellent, and Laurence Fishburne/Thrax was an awesome villain, but they probably would've been better off just running with this entire movie if they JUST focused on the animated portions. I agree with Doug on this one, the live-action stuff with Bill Murray is a complete tonal shift and doesn't feel at all connected. Ozzy and Drix, though, was a pretty awesome series that lived up to the movie's expectations, though I still feel like the movie wanted to be PG-13 but some combination of executive meddling and dicey, last minute editing due to test screening might've forced it back to a PG.
