Description
Bullfinches (Pyrrhula pyrrhula), below the red-colored male, above the greyish-brown female, on an ash tree. The seeds of ash trees are favored food on these birds (they are mostly wintering in Hungary). While they can be pests at orchards by plucking the buds, they also might be beneficial against the invasive American ash (where I live the American ash is widespread and the bullfinches love to snack on its seeds).
