Description
An Interstellar Luxury Cruiser Liner makes a scheduled stop on a world that has almost 100% of its surface covered by water. It isnot accident that the stop is timed to allow passengers the spectacle of the unusual sunset over Ocean City, one of several floating
cities that are located all around this world. The entire world is geared toward tourists, and many passengers are diembarking from
the ship to stay in one of the many 7 Star Hotels on the planet.
Aquaria is the name of this world, and the best fishing in the galaxy can be had here. Submarine tours are also running nonstop on
which tourists can see the exotic lifeforms of the sea. Sailing ships of 18th century Earth design as well as some from several other
inhabited worlds of the galaxy, are also available to tourists. Annual races between boats of the same classes from different worlds
are a big attraction for people of many of the galaxy's intelligent species. For these races there are floating grandstands.
There is an intelligent species known as the Xenowhale that interacts with the strange non-aquatic visitors, and it is they that own and
run the tourist trade on this planet. One must have a special translator device to speak with Xenowhales, as there language is a lot
like that of Earth's whales, only far more complex.
One other intelligent species is thought to be indigenous to Aquaria; the avian race that calls themselves Aurok. They are much like
the eagles of Earth, but a closer inspection reveals that the size of their heads is comparable to that of the human head, and they are
three to four times the size of the largest eagle on Earth. They live in aviaries that are established in every floating city around the
planet.
One landmass exists on this planet, which is just 210 km long and 120 km wide. It is left in its pristine wild state as it is the only
place where landbased species can live. Tours of The Island are limited to just a few tourists at a time, and they must follow the
most strict guidelines anywhere in the galaxy. No life form, whether animal or plant may be harmed in any way. Observations must
be conducted from hover platforms.
Alien bacteria and viruses are not allowed anywhere on the planet, which helps to ensure that the life on this planet remains safe from
such things. This rule is doubly enforced at The Island.
Now if you want to get a taste of some really great cooking by a native of this planet, I recommend a restaurant called Zwarg's
Seafood. It is owned and operated by a Xenowhale named Zwarg. He is what is known as a Sea Chef. An example of his cooking is
a special dish called Vouruntihcai. He catches these Vouruntihcai Hexocrabs and cooks them in a natural volcanic underwater vent,
at 950 degrees F. There are several sea vegetables that are served raw with the meal, and the drink is provided in a natural plantbulb
that extracts salts from the seawater and adds a sweet fruity taste to the water which is trapped inside the bulb of the pre-bloom
flower. If the bulb is allowed to set in the sun for about thirty days, the liquid inside it will have fermented into a very nice wine with
goes quite nicely with the Vouruntihcai dish. It is an experience to be fondly remembered!
