Just felt like drawing something disneyesque, and since it's autumn... you got my fav Disney princess.

Your choice of colours in this is beautiful! I really like the contrasting shawl Ariel is wearing compared to the yellows and oranges in the painting.

Glad you like it. I wanted to use a non-yellow colour for the shawl, but still a colour that is a bit melancholic, just like autumn. And purple/lilac is a melancholic colour, at least for me.

Yes, Jasmine's spunky while Ariel is more dreamy, but I like the fact that Ariel too is a rebel. Last week I was rewatching some Disney movies - Cinderella among them - and realised something that never occurred to me when I watched these movies as a child. The Disney girls of old (Cinderella, Snow White) were perfect, but very two dimensional. They had only good traits: serenity, humbleness, etc. The Disney girls in the 90's were more three dimensional, they had negative traits as well, like being rebels, talking back to their fathers (Jasmine, Ariel), working as spies (Megara), disguising themselves as men against regulations (Mulan), etc. And I love it that the "newer" Disney girls are three dimensional characters.

agreed. And I dont know about you, but I just can't stand when they say "Disney Princesses" and they talk about Cinderella and Belle, those two girls weren't princesses, they were damsels that got saved by princes. To be a Disney Princess you HAVE to be a Princess. Just something that urked me to no end, since it was always Belle, Ariel, and Cinderella on every damn disney princess thing but no Jasmine.... grrrrrrrr

Yeah, but good lord, that was AFTER the movie. Seesh! And to tell you the truth, we never saw BELLE marry the "Beast", we were only spectating it would happen. Guh, and what about Esmeraelda, I mean, she is a beautiful damsel, but surely not a princess. o_0... No no, the true Disney Princesses that should be on every single Disney Princess item should be Ariel, Jasmine, and Aurora. my two cents...
