Walking throughout the forest felt normal, almost comforting to Kane in the beginning. He'd walked through paths like this one before, and he wasn't unsettled by the eerie shadows like some of the other griffolk in the party. These sounds had become a home to him during his years of travel, becoming a secure place to hide and travel safely. Yet now, it seemed quite different from that now... He watched with surprise as the rift opened, watching as the shiny trails of eather emerged from within and formed into shapes that weren't recognizable at first, then into the shapes of the friendly party members that had accompanied each other on these dangerous days of travel.

This... Really wasn't something he thought would happen when he'd signed up for this odd rift investigation...

No matter, this could be solved quickly, especially if some of the safe folk planned on helping the others... It was only a little worrying to see the large shapes of the titan guardians and terradragons fighting their eather counterparts amidst the chaos. Mentally noting to himself to keep away from those battles, Kane glanced around in search for his own eather counterpart. Surely it had to be somewhere close by, even if he wasn't standing as close to where the rift opened compared to some of the other griffolk...

"Looking for...me?"

Kane whipped his head around behind him, searching for the source of the voice he'd just heard. Had it been a voice at all? A whisper, perhaps? No, it wasn't quite like that either...

"Or rather, are you looking for you?"

Similar to a low hiss, Kane heard the voice brush against his ears again and it was gone before he could face it. Kane took a defensive stance, glancing around him to check for his target, trying to hone in on a specific location. However, this was proven to be futile when the voice came from behind again, but this time it stayed there, standing for a moment long enough for him to notice. Yet, before he could whip around to unleash an attack of his own, it took a swipe at him before stepping back. Horrified, Kane stared at the figure in dismay, holding a paw over his fresh wound.

"What are you?"

"You. But perhaps that is an unfathomable answer to you....."

Kane lunged for the figure, which quickly dodged his movements and stepped to the side.

"Now, now. Don't get too hasty." A smirk appeared on its shiny face, and vague eye-shaped pools stared at him. Its gaze swept over his figure as Kane awkwardly stood there, thinking. If this was a mirror of himself, what would trick him long enough for him to lunge at it? A cup of coffee this deep in the woods surely wouldn't suffice, even if it'd easily distract him... This eather was too clever for that.

Having an epiphany, Kane looked to the side, momentarily acting as if he was moving his attention to another pair of figures dueling it out. Acting distracted would surely cause it to move for him, and the figure did so with little hesitation, attempting to seize the opportunity to attack. Kane easily maneuvered and grabbed its arm, twisting it and kicking the figure's torso to knock it onto the ground. With the figure stunned, Kane now had the advantage and quickly dove to finish it, unleashing claws that were manipulated with his keratin growth to be longer than usual.

Satisfied once the eather began to dissipate, Kane moved towards one of the party members that seemed to be struggling, hoping to provide some aid...
