Much like Kiara, it annoyed me how Kopa was a Simba clone so I mixed both movie 1 and move 2 colors of Simba and Nala, and did my best to avoid Kiara and Kopa looking too similar color wise and ended up with this. Kopa wasn't very Nala-like to me either so... (I did a previous Nala-like Kopa but I wasn't satisfied with him so he is nyxed, and this is his replacement) He's now more Nala-like and I love him with these colors!

I did at first have him in my TLK head cannon, but I couldn't fit him in as easily as I hoped I could until one day, I came up with this backstory below, but, this is a theory of what if Kopa was in the TLK story/was cannon?:

Nala gives birth to a single cub, a male named Kopa and as a cub, he was very rebellious and often disobeyed his parents, well his father rather than his mother, and loved to annoy Zazu who would reluctantly occupy him with stories to keep him quiet and out of trouble. On the days Zazu couldn't occupy Kopa, Kopa was up to mischief and got himself into trouble- once by jumping to conclusions, and another time he did a dangerous dare so he wouldn't be called a wimp. During all that time, Zira had been stalking and watching him, planning to exact revenge on Simba by killing Kopa, but wasn't sure how to go about it until she saw Kopa in trouble one day, and evilly smiled, deciding to use the situation to her advantage. She came to his "rescue" and defended him against some teenage hyenas while he ran, acting as if she cared for Kopa, then once she succeeded in scaring the hyenas off, she went looking for him and found him hiding in some tall grass that separated the pridelands from the outlands as to why he had found himself surrounded by hyenas sudddenly. Kopa ran to her and thanked her for saving him and even nuzzled her as thanks while Zira allowed it and put on a fake smile of "You're welcome" and when he turned and began walking back home, Zira evilly smiled once more and made her move, pouncing all of a sudden on Kopa who did not see the blind sided attack coming and brutally beat him, cutting and scratching him with her teeth and claws. Kopa was able to turn around and not only see Zira having turned on him, he scratched her face and bit her ear leaving a notch in it in self defense,causing Zira to drop him to the ground and he quickly ran away as fast as his limp would allow him to, but Zira would quickly regain composure and resume her attack on him digging her claws into him as she grabbed him up by his torso and seeming to bite down, causing a cracking sound then she dropped him to the ground and as if nothing happened, walked away. Kopa laid there in pain , crying until he lost conciousness and appearing to have taken his last breath. His screams would alert Simba and Nala who would run to him but would appear to be too late as they found their son on a pool of his own blood, not moving and seeming to not be breathing, and they would burst into tears, mourning Kopa while embracing his bloody body and then that's when they'd notice Zira's scent on him which would be Zira's own mistake of not covering her tracks as well as she thought she had. Simba and Nala would confront her upon returning to pride rock after hiding Kopa's body so he can rest peacefully, and of course Zira would deny it and say she saved him from the hyenas or so she thoughtbut she guesses they got him anyway. She then dared to ask how it felt to lose someone he loved and that was when in a rage, Simba exiled her, along with her lionesses who were loyal to Scar and her 3 cubs- 2 of which were newborns she had stolen from Tama and Chumvi who she had killed as well but Simba and Nala and the rest of the pride had no knowledge except for Kula, Tojo and Malka who were threatened that if they told, they would end up like their friends. Nala herself had given birth to two cubs early that morning and had left them in her mother's care while going with Simba to help Kopa. She named the first born of the two a female, Kiara, and the second born, another male, Kion. Since then Simba had been terrified of losing another cub to Zira or other dangerous lions and lionesses if not other dangerous animals and became overbearing and over protective of Kiara especially because she's a girl. He didn't worry that much over Kion as he could take care of himself as he became the leader of the Lion Guard. In the meantime, Kopa had spent 2 months in a coma that made him appear dead and his wounds had mostly healed up, leaving 2 big scars on his back, a scar over his right eye, 3 scars on his left hind quarter, 2 small scars on his ear with a notch between the scars of the now scarred ear, 3 more small scars on the right side of his nose/muzzle, and 2 small scars on his tail. He slowly stood up noticing he was still slightly sore in the rib area and assumed his ribs had been broken and was still healing, and without looking back, he began his journey, aiming to go as far away as he could from his birth land and home, out of fear Zira would finish what she started if she ever learned he was still alive. Kopa traveled so far, that he had found himself in a place he didn't know. He didn't care though and he decided to be a rogue from there on out and live in hiding on the run. Due to the injury he suffered to his left hind leg, he couldn't travel for too long and often stopped for breaks and would scavenge for food, find some water then get some sleep before continuing his journey. Once he had arrived at a tree that was hidden behind a cliff with a path leading to the tree, he laid beside the tree in the shade and relaxed until he was startled by a brown lioness who introduced ehrself as Nirmala and said he came to the right place and that her pride can help him. Kopa was so startled, he thought she was attacking him and he instinctively went to defensive mode as if he was going to attack her until Nirmala calmed him down and assured him it's alright, she wants to help him, not hurt him. He nervously followed her into the tree where he learned he was at the Tree of Life and Janna, the Queen healed him, but his scars remained. Kopa had developed PTSD, had nightmares since his ordeal, and could not bring himself to trust anyone as he had also developed trust issues.

Because of the PTSD, trust issues, and nightmares he had developed due to his ordeal, he'd lash out aggressively, in a defensive stance as if he were being attacked whenever someone would come too close to him or if he felt uncomfortable around others after having thanked Nirmala and Janna and quickly left the Tree of Life, not wanting to stick around there after elarnin all kinds of animals come there for healing and he did not want to take a chance of anyone from his pride coming there and finding him and he instead continued traveling past the Tree of Life and came to a jungle he decided to call his new home and would hunt for food within the area when he was hungry, thankful that he had inherited his mother's ability to hunt otherwise he'd have died of starvation a long time ago. His hunting skills were what sustained him even though he mostly hunted small animals as he was still a cub, but now was soon to be a teen and was beginning to hunt some small to medium sized animals. He got water from a watering hole he found near his new home and vowed he would never return to the pride lands especially as long as Zira was still alive and the fact he knew she had her own cubs, he had a feeling her cubs would be the new threat to get revenge and he wanted no part of that. Whenever he'd see someone new, he stayed hidden, preferring to be alone and no one could really blame him after what he had gone through as a cub. If he couldn't avoid them, he'd run in the opposite direction and disappear, leaving the new animal to assume he's just painfully shy, which wasn't a lie technically. As he grew his coat would get a little darker in color and his mane would grow out, with the front of it getting to the point he could his his scarred right eye underneath it. He preferred hunting at night just after sunset, and in the mornings just before sunrise as the darkness helped to hide him and he liked it that way as it meant no one would see him as he hated how he looked. Between hunts, he'd snack on small rodents he'd catch in the jungle so he wouldn't be too hungry during the day. One day, when he was relaxing by the waterhole in the jungle, he heard voices shouting that Zira had started a war and needed to be stopped. He went and investigated, but kept hidden and saw it was 2 hyenas, going to the Tree of Life. They must have been getting help from Nirmala and Queen Janna and their pride he thought. As long as he was left alone, he was happy. Just as he was about to go back to his water hole, he noticed a young male lion not much younger than him with a red mane growing on his head down the back of his neck, 2 scars over his left eye, and had fur that was golden honey colored, and red eyes like his father and something in him told him to follow the young lion as he saw him leaving with the two hyenas whose names he heard were Jasiri and Janja. He was careful to remain hidden under any and all circumstances and stayed quiet as to not alert the young lion, the hyenas and what seemed to be a group of friends that was with them. When they had reached the outlands, Kopa used what he could find, like huge rocks mainly to keep himself hidden and he, by eavesdropping learned the young lion was his younger brother, and the lionesses and a second young male lion that appeared were his younger sister and sister and brother in laws. Kopa was shocked and knew this meant either his brother or his sister was the heir now, and didn't take long for him to find out his sister Kiara was the future queen as she and Kovu his brother in law, told what had happened to Zira, and his brother Kion was the leader of the Lion Guard while witnessing from his hiding place, Kion gifting a beautiful lioness named Vitani the Roar of the Elders and he became smitten with Vitani but because of his fear of others and trust issues, he couldn't bring himself to come out of hiding at first, until one of her guard seen him and demanded he show himself. He cringed when he was yelled at to show himself and he nervously did so, laying down as he did so. He apologized for the intrusion and said he would leave right away, but was stopped by Simba and Nala who were both standing there in shock at first at the sight of their son who thye recognized by his scars, having never forgotten what they looked like since seeing them all over him when they found him after Zira had attacked him and as a result he was thought to be dead as his parents explained to him as they had stopped him from leaving and pleaded with him to stay. Kopa apologized for being away for so long and explained himself after the events of Zira attacking him and leaving him for dead and how he had lived in hiding on the run since then out of fear of Zira, having found the courage in himself to do so. He was reassured by Kiara telling him Zira was no more and that he is safe now Hearing that, had given him peace of mind and relief for the first time in so long and he agreed to stay with his pride and he got to know Vitani who had developed mutual feelings for him and they became mates with 4 cubs of their own.
