It's been a while since I've made a big piece like this. It was good environmental/background practice for me XD
This piece was inspired by my character Matthias during a recent roleplay event.

I'm not quite satisfied with how I shaded his shirt, but I didn't want to dwell on it too long. Otherwise I might not have ended up posting it LOL

I was having trouble trying to decide what sky I wanted behind the window. It was between a starry night and a sunset, but they both sounded too 'happy' to me. Therefore, I opted for a dark, empty night sky with faint signs of stars. It was what I felt most reflected Matthias's emotions in that moment.

Summary of this scene:

It was Matthias's birthday celebration. He thought he would finally get the recognition he deserved, something he was denied from his family. After being publicly humiliated by his own father, his birthday, which he thought would be a joyous day turned sour. His father, in favor his other son (Matthias's older brother), overtook the spotlight once more, leaving Matthias in the shadows. Matthias have never felt so alone in that moment.
