Description

It was supposed to be a test flight of a new variation. Hiro had been making adjustments to the wings he made for his suit now that he had outgrown Baymax as a means of flight. He was good with flying solo - Baymax wouldn’t have let him even leave the airspace around the cafe if that hadn’t been the case.
But it didn’t mean that he was going to leave them alone either. They weren’t 100% what he wanted so he started to make adjustments. New thrusters, a more aerodynamic design…
And more purple than red. He must’ve used at least two cans of car paint to make them look right.
“UWAAAAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!”
The rocket boots, however, were not behaving. Hiro was having many regrets modeling them after another hero who had mentored him a few times.
He was soaring through the air, trying to get a handle on the sudden burst of speed he hadn’t expected. Especially when he couldn’t seem to get out of a barrel roll.
“AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!! I REGRET EVERYTHING!!!!!”
He saw a tree coming up and gulped closing his eyes, hoping he wouldn’t just destroy the thing upon contact.
Hiro angled himself slightly, aiming downward, managing to turn off his boots.
Welp. This is gonna hurt. A LOT.
He braced himself as he landed in the tree, tumbling until his wings got stuck in two branches… Hiro being upside down and trying to kick himself free.
“Aw crap.” He muttered looking around him trying to guess where he was. He was going so fast he hadn’t even noticed.
There was the noise of a sliding back door as he started to recognize the yard.
“Hiro?”
The boy was grateful for the tint his helmet had as he turned bright red. Kathleen was standing there, giving him a puzzled look. She looked at the tree trunk and then back to him, her eyes traveling upwards.
Her eyes landed on the wings as she clamped both hands over her mouth.
“NOT A SINGLE WORD!” He cried out.
Kathleen walked over to him before she busted up giggling, her shoulders shaking.
“Hiro, what on Earth did you do!?”

“Nerd wing mach 2 test.” He grinned sheepishly. “So uh… surprise?”
Kathleen shook her head, standing in front of him so she could look in his eyes. “I’ll help you down in a second… Though first, lemme give you something for your trouble.”
Hiro blinked in confusion as she took his helmet off of him, setting it beside her on the ground. He reached for it before she brought his head into her hands.
“Em-Kat-”
She closed her eyes, kissing him lightly on the lips. Hiro felt his face heat up as a silly grin formed on his face.
WOW. I SHOULD FALL IN TREES MORE OFTEN!
He closed his eyes, leaning into the kiss before she pulled back.
“Wow.”
“Better?”
“Yeah… Now... um, Kat? I need a favor.”
“Hm?” She tilted her head.
Hiro gave her a silly grin.
“... All the blood is rushing to my head. My head feels funny.”
“I’ll get the ladder!”
Ah… This is a good day.
It wasn’t long before Kathleen managed to help him dislodge himself from the tree as he fell to the ground in a heap.
“OOF!”
She slid down the ladder and jumped into his arms as he laughed, hugging her.
“You okay?”
“Yeah. Definitely okay.” He kissed her head. “Mwah!”
She giggled. “You dork.”
“Your dork. Thanks for the help.”
“Hey, anytime. Always glad when you drop in.” She giggled, tucking her head under Hiro’s. “Stay?”
“Alright.” He hugged her close nuzzling her. “If the fair lady insists.”
“She does.”
“Then I shall.”
