Stasis is one of the three 'great advancements' of the human race in the modern era along with Super-Intelligent AI and Omnigrain. Discovered late in the 2nd millennium, an energy and magnetic field with certain properties was discovered by freak accident during Wormhole reasearch. While Wormholes were never fully figured out, Stasis allowed anything to be frozen in time, perfectly preserved. There are some side effects on living things, known as "Stasis Sickness", but it isn't permanent.
