Description

High Commander Megatron, head of the TransTech military, often clashes with the High Senate 's leader, Optimus Prime . Unlike his counterpart, Megatron is about pragmatism, pure and simple. In political action, ends justify the means. The security of Cybertron and its inhabitants is that end, and any act, no matter how atrocious, is acceptable to him. And if you have to do things underground, away from the prying eyes of the more skittish, then so be it.

Despite their increasingly strained relationship, Optimus and Megatron have a long history together, first starting when both were young and neither were experienced or powerful. Megatron was inspired by Optimus' speeches about hope and unity, and together they forged an upward path through their respective hierarchies. However, now that Optimus is the Matrix -bearing Prime, ruler of the High Senate, Megatron's black ops controversies are harder to ignore. Megatron secretly acknowledges that there will one day be a final confrontation between them, and has prepared accordingly.

For Optimus Prime, it would be a rough battle. Though Optimus does have weaponry of his own, Megatron's armaments have no equal. His primary weapon contains a gravimetric field generator powered by a microscopic black hole, all held within a quantum zero-point energy cage. When it is fired at a target, it pulls the weight of multiple dimensions upon it, causing an implosion. It's only been fired at full power once . Within his databanks are contained the recorded fighting styles and histories of multiple dimensions, and this is information he puts to deadly use in hand-to-hand combat. His armies follow his every word without question.[1]

Feels like he's missing some antlers.

Megatron and the High Senate granted an audience to two "outworlders " who requested a conversation with Optimus Prime. Though the two outworlders, Path Finder  and Bug Bite , were victims of a multiversal cataclysm on an exploratory mission and had arrived wrongly in Axiom Nexus , Megatron viewed them with cold contempt and suspicion. He called for Rhinox  to explain their situation and put their distress in the proper context. Though Prime had compassion for the stranded mechanoids, his legal hand were tied, and, as Megatron would remind him, rightfully so. Their plight was nothing compared to the potential dangers they offered. Withered Hope

Meanwhile, other mechanoids of interest had landed in Axiom Nexus. Shockwave , having kidnapped Breakaway , presented his victim to Megatron in his lab. Megatron asked that he please keep him intact. Transcendent: Part 2  Senator Ratbat  soon made an appearance of his own, and he worried about the legality. Shockwave and Megatron implored Ratbat to seek permission to attempt more invasive procedures, for killing Breakaway could lead to significant breakthroughs in learning. Transcendent: Part 3

THANKS. WE. KNOW.

However, the experiment was interrupted. A group of rebels led by that crackpot Alpha Trion  fought through security and made their way through to Shockwave's lab. Megatron ordered Shockwave to halt his progress and assist him in battle. Megatron programmed his onboard computer systems to construct an arm-mounted cannon, and he quickly engaged the rebels. But Alpha Trion, surprisingly, was a more formidable foe than he had suspected. Transcendent: Part 5

Shockwave, who was being dismantled by Immorticon , pled for Megatron's assistance, and Megatron responded with a truly impressive display of firepower. Immorticon, despite his name and reputation, was reduced to a smoldering husk. But when Megatron turned back to again face Alpha Trion in battle, he was disappointed to learn that the old one had fled, along with his hanger-ons. Transcendent: Part 6

Some time later, Megatron was in the control room of Axiom Nexus when Rhinox detected "multiple phenomenon across corresponding clusters," even in universal streams long thought destroyed . To that effect, Megatron insulted Rhinox's abilities. Quickly, Rhinox traced the activity back to Primax 207.0 Epsilon  in general and its universe's Overlord  in specific. Invasion Prologue
