Description

I hope you don't mind a little bit of show and tell mingled with a bit of self-promotion, but I would really like to explain why I am creating all of the cool images I am sharing. At any rate, here goes!

I absolutely fell in love with Stable Diffusion when it was released to the public. I had already been toying around with MidJourney, after waiting a long, long time to be allowed to play there, so when I found out that I could generate similar content on my own RTX 3080 TI, I dove in head first. I was having a blast, but I was also dissatisfied with the maximum size image I could generate (upscaling wasn't built-in back then), so I dropped $2000+ on a pair of RTX 3090's with 24GB of VRAM. I was having a blast... Then DreamBooth was released.

Up until DreamBooth, most of my image generations were texture maps for my 3D texturing work, decorative pieces to use as artwork in a scene, or backgrounds to use in some of my Unity projects. After DreamBooth, the variety of models started to grow at an exponential rate! THe whole world was becoming available in virtually any style you could imagine. All you need was some fast silicon and creative prompts that could hit that sweet spot where five armed attrocities turned into stuff I would happily hang on my wall in the living room.

I have been a game programmer for more than four decades. Thirty years ago my Wyvern Solitaire games were some of the top shareware games of the time. It seemed like every game that released on Steam with AI generated content was poorly produced garbage that was just trying to quickly capitalize on the excitement and controversy surrounding AI. I felt like there really needed to be some examples of what AI could do for game development with a bit more production values, so I spent every available moment for three months building AI Solitaire and generating hundreds of really cool card decks for it using Stable Diffusion. And hey, if I could grab a bit of that attention the news media was throwing at everything AI, that wouldn't hurt either, right? So I paid my $100 and submitted it to Steam.

After three days, when I would normally expect an approval, I got a cryptic message stating my game was going to take longer to review. However, it took more than a "bit longer". Finally after another three weeks I got a strongly worded response from Steam's lawyers telling me that my game looked like it could be a commercial success, but in light of the recently launched Civil Suits against all the providers Steam was no longer willing to accept any more products with AI generated content. Yeah! I paid $100 bucks to get an off-hand compliment and a refusal to publish 3 months worth of full-time work. Doh! So now it lives on itch.io, where it will most likely dwell in obscurity forever.

My whole purpose in posting the artwork here was to generate interest in my FREE solitaire game. Too be honest, it has been fun seeing the hundreds of favorited images, reading the pleasant comments, etc. However, so far all the interest in my images has done nothing to get people to look at my game. Only four people from DeviantArt have clicked through to look at the game since I started posting. Obviously I was not being effective at promoting my game, even if I was making people happy with the art, so this new gallery is my shameless plug to try and get more people playing my game.

I am going to post the card decks that are included in the game first, then the free decks from my Patreon, and then I may post some of the decks from the DLC packs I offer separately as add-ons. Hopefully, by seeing all the cool cards in a deck a few people will go download and try my game. I don't even really care about the money, that's why the game is free, but as a creator it would be nice to see a few people enjoying my game!

All the card decks shown here are made of AI Generated images created using Stable Diffusion. You can download my FREE game AI Solitaire game on Itch.io:  denkigaka.itch.io/ai-solitaire or on my patreon: www.patreon.com/posts/announci… .

Beyond the included decks, there are also a large number of card decks I made from my test images available on Patreon for anyone (even without a membership) to download here: www.patreon.com/posts/80226696 .

So if you like what I am doing, please support me by downloading the free game and enjoy my creation. If you decide to buy a DLC pack or join my Patreon, that would be great, too, but currently I just want people to play the game and tell their friends. The rest of that will take care of itself.
