Description
Entry 3 in my bestiary! This is El Cuero, or the cow hide. Legend has it that El Cuero was created when a donkey died and it's body fell into a stream. It's a lake monst/cryptid from Chile, and has been described as looking like an inflated cow hide that's been left out to dry. Additionally, people have reported it to have tentacles, eye stalks, barbs around the outside edges, an extendable mouth, and a whiplike tail. When a human gets too close to investigate, it rears up, wraps itself around them, and drags them into the water to drown and eat them. Researchers to the region have attributed it to be a misidentification of already known animals, but they can't quite agree on *which* known animals. Various guesses include giant river rays, mata mata turtles, and see slugs.
