[Notes: The reason for late this time was because I started an Insta page for these variants and I was actually trying to line the dexing up, so I can put posts in both places the same time. Now that I've posted the last evolutionary line there, we can move ahead with the Dex. So, here's Tangela variant.]
.
Tangela are the kinds of Pokémon that have put the entire scientific community in shock and awe for ages. First of all, there was the Taxonomy Wars, a little scientific dispute between Galar and Kalos scientists about the classification of multiple Grass types. The main topic of dispute was Tangela, which was a recent discovery back then and hence, raised the very basic of question of whether these Pokémon are plants or animals. This also affected multiple already classified Pokémon, Pokémon like Chikorita and Sewaddle were temporarily classified into the plant kingdom, while Bellsprout and Paras moved into the animal kingdom. This debate continued on for years to come and Pokémon kept switching kingdoms, until a young aspiring Sinnohan scientist published his Theory of Evolution and changed the entirety of Pokémon taxonomy.
.
When Professor Rowan published the theory, Tangela and most other Grass types had their cellular structure and growth researched under Rowan's Postulate, which stated that every Grass type Pokémon that possess a definite nervous system are to be classified into the animal kingdom. This by default placed Tangela into the Plant kingdom due to the obvious lack of a brain and a definite neural system. These Pokémon are instead reliant on stimuli for various processes like metabolism and respiration.
.
The Alnean Hydra Tangela differ from their Common Bluevine counterparts in terms of both behavior and dwelling. Contrary to the forest-living nature of the Bluevines, the Alnean variants inhabit the vast marine reefs and coasts around Alneo Region. These Pokémon delve in the seabeds and play a huge role in creating the oceanic oxygen that a huge number of marine Pokémon strive from. This is why it is pretty common for fishermen to get these Pokémon tangled in their webs or hooks.
.
As the Tangela evolves, it however adopts a predatory lifestyle due to the chlorophyll starting to deplete with age. The Alnean Tangrowth use their strong vines to entangle prey before swallowing it whole and then digesting it with enzymes. These Tangrowth are infamous for toppling small boats that threaten to compete with them for fish.

Oh, I LOVE the idea of them being covered in seaweed instead of vines!
