Metapod does not move very much.
Even though it is encased in a sturdy shell, the body inside is tender.
It can't withstand a harsh attack.
It stays still because it is preparing its soft innards for evolution inside the hard shell.
Metapod hides itself in bushes and fallen leaves, for if it is discovered by bird Pokemon it will come under constant attack as they consider it an easy meal.
