~ Year 2373, three days after First Contact ~

A temporal distortion opens up, it's Borg signature. However, exiting it is a small Federation ship, of unknown design. It is being attacked by a Borg diamond, the Queen ship. Rufus orders the ship to battle, defending the small ship.

"I could sense them," Shana sensed the collective mind. "Oh wait, they blocked me."

Rufus looks frustrated, he adjusts his seating posture.

"Disable the Borg vessel," Rufus commanded.

A blast rocks the ship, it was rough, but the blast sound sounded a little bit too gentle.

"Sir, I'm trying, but they know our shield and phaser frequency," Swift informed. "I'm initiating frequency modulation Beta."

Swift continues to fire several phaser, they all score a hit.

"Minimal damage," Logan reported. "Their cutting beam is forty percent effective, targeting our weapon system--and they know where to target."
"They know, how?" Shana wondered. "Plus, they aren't even trying to destroy us."

An alarm interrupts them, the small Federation ship opens fire on both vessel.

"Shield's down to twenty percent."
"Lock photon torpedoes on the Federation ship," Rufus barked. "Fire when ready!"

Swift launched six torpedoes away, and only two scores a hit.

"The ship is retreating, opening a temporal rift."

They forgot about the Borg ship, and the ship rocks by the Borg phaser beam.

"Manual phaser frequency rotation," Xylis ordered. "Upper EM band."

Swift quickly moves her hands across her workstation, retune the phaser settings.

"Ready."
"Fire," Rufus ordered.

Just a few phaser blast, and the Borg vessel is disabled.

"Status?" Shana queried.
"The ship is temporarily disabled, but I don't know how long until they are up and about," Swift reported.

Logan scanned the Borg vessel, and found something suspicious.

"Captain, that Borg ship has the same temporal signature as the Federation ship that attacked us," Logan reported.
"Can we beam an away team inside?" Shana looked at Logan.
"It's deep within the vessel."

Rufus wants answers.

"Xylis and Shana, lead two away team, investigate the Borg vessel."
"Yes, sir," Both sisters acknowledged.
