Card Trivia:
- This was the first Link Monster revealed in the OCG /TCG , as well as the first Link Monster to be Summoned in the Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS anime.
- This monster and "Firewall Dragon " are the first ace monsters of a spin-off protagonist whose Type is neither Dragon nor Warrior , thus breaking the pattern of the spin-off protagonists' ace monsters (though "Decode Talker" does resemble a Warrior and "Firewall Dragon" does resemble a Dragon, so they only break the pattern semantically).
- It is also the first time a protagonist uses a newly created Type (in this case, Cyberse ).
- This card eventually being replaced by the 2500 ATK "Firewall Dragon" as Yusaku's ace monster mirrors both Jaden Yuki 's "Elemental HERO Flame Wingman ", who eventually got replaced by the 2500 ATK "Elemental HERO Neos ", and Yusei Fudo 's "Junk Warrior ", who eventually got replaced by the 2500 ATK "Stardust Dragon ".
- This monster has a defensive-based LIGHT counterpart: "Encode Talker ". And a WIND counterpart from the gym
- While this card is offensively-themed, its effect is far more defensive than "Encode Talker"
- This monster appears in the artworks of "Recoded Alive " and "Link Restart ".
- This card can be viewed as a personification of Yusaku because it gains power by using others to achieve its goals (similar to how Yusaku views Ignis as a tool for his ends).
- Furthermore, its effect that requires sacrificing a monster it is Linked to for his safety is similar to how Yusaku wouldn't hesitate to delete Ignis if the Knight of Hanoi didn't stop his destruction of LINK VRAINS .
- This card's name is a pun on "Code Talker". These individuals, who were typically Native Americans, were used by the United States during wars in the 20th Century as a means of encrypting and decrypting communications by using obscure languages that were not widespread and were difficult to translate.

Since the summon mechanic WAS just announced, there s not much info.......... though I doubt that will remain true for long since the new series should be coming around April.

That was fast :v nice
I wonder how the link will work when it points to the opponent's field...would it be something like Duelist of the Roses? like... a...cursed(?) zone? if the opponent puts a card there it will receive a negative effect or something like that

I am actually excited for these. I know just what they will do to the game.

That, but the game got so ridiculously fast. I can win on my second turn with Gladiator Beasts, so that shows how fast the game is getting. I think this is for getting new people in the game. Pendulums, and tribute decks, essentially remain untouched.
Performapal get nerfed if that is good news because of the Extra Monster Zone.

""Pendulums, and tribute decks, essentially remain untouched""
Except that anyone running Pendulums and is going first can't Pendulum Summon on their first turn. And Pendulum Scales reduce the number of Spells and Traps you're allowed to set in your backrow.

That really does nothing for me with that. I always used 2-3 spaces for spells and traps in Pendulum decks, so it really isn't that bad, and I never saw the need of swarming on the first turn other then getting monsters out before your opponent. Pendulums didn't really get that bad a deal like Fusion, Synchro, and Xyz did.
I honestly saw this coming though as they weren't banning or nerfing powerful cards that have swarmed the meta.

Fair point, it's just that a lot of the time at the tournaments I've observed typically the Pendulum Decks Pendulum Summon like 3 or 4 monsters on the first turn, do a bunch of searching and drawing, then set like 2 Strikes, a Warning, and a D-Barrier

I know what you mean. This is Konami's way of nerfing that without banning all Meta Cards, and like what you said. I dread going to a tournament again because everyone I faced wasn't the best, but they had the best cards, and I have noticed very few cards have changed other then staples really.
So yeah. This is to calm down many decks, especially the Extra decks, and I know because if done right I could summon Shooting Quasar, Divine Stardust Spark, and Cosmic Blazer on my first turn.

I'm sure that, given enough time, there's gonna be a way to utilize Link Monsters to get out Quasar/Spark/Blazar/Etc. a little faster than when the rules first hit. But I feel your pain, one of my favorite decks to ply is Synchrons and D/D/D

I know what you mean. I am not joking when I say not even 15 minuets after I found out about the changes I was already trying to figure out fast ways to do this. Link Monsters seem splash-able for right now, so there is that.

Right, at the very least, Link Spider and Decode Talker for anyone wanting Skull Servants or literally almost anyone

Hey, do you do OCG cards on here? Think you can make decent-quality cards from the 2017 Starter deck?
