Description Drawn May 22, 2005 whilst my family and I were on holiday in London. I did invert it in photoshop, but otherwise it was drawn all in pen. I really despise pencils, so no pencil touched it. There's some errors, due to my inability to erase, and also the fact that some of it was drawn on a bus. The bird is supposed to be a raven (of the sort that live in Hiroshima -- they're huge) and I know that it's shaped funny. Originally, the tree was a skeleton and the only leaves were on the top branch with the bird. I was going for something like "life-bestowing bird," but my husband said the tree looked bleak and even though that was sort of the point, I added more leaves. He's got a lot of pull, James.

this is a beautiful illustration [:

At first i thought you did this with maybe white pencil on black paper or chalk but then i read your editorial note and D: i would have never thought to invert my ink drawings to get this affect.

I applaud your work its breath taking yet simple

Good work

I like it. It's kool how it is inverted aswell. I don't think it would have had the same inpact if it wasn't.
