Take this new, mutant species of mushroom, for instance, the Treadcap! This fungoid has the ability to retract its hyphae from the mycorrhizal network that gave rise to it and locomote freely with a set of 10 curious pseudopods.

It does this in search of moist areas with water dripping from above, which it collects in its upturned cap. When sufficiently full, the Treadcap will release a cloud of billions of spores into its cap, creating a spore-slurry that it then allows to weep from pore in its cap's underside. It does this while ambling directionlessly about as its means of reproduction!

The Frog-folk know to avoid these wandering fungoids, as their spore-slurry can lead to a nasty infection if it contacts their sensitive, amphibious skin. The mushrooms are quite unsteady when they walk -- perhaps by design -- so they can't help sloshing their inoculated essence-water all over the place!
