Description
A fairly small dungeon focused around a set of puzzles. Beyond the puzzles, a few traps and other defense mechanisms (creatures) are in place to ensure that only the worthy reach tomb of the revered apostle...!Entrance/exit: Stairs south (S) of the large central chamber.
Boss/Goal: Secret tomb east (E) of the large central chamber.
There are 8 puzzle plinth/daises (not tall ones, like an inch off the ground) hidden throughout the dungeon (7 real, 1 trap). Solving all 7 real ones causes the statue of Bahamut (on the E end of the central chamber) to shift, revealing the passage beyond to the final chamber. Solving the trap puzzle or inputting incorrect solutions to the real puzzles spawns enemies (Spirit Pseudodragons) from the statue.
Other enemies such as Spirits, Bats (single and Swarm), Giant Rats, prowl the dungeon.
1: Small study S of main chamber houses a puzzle dais, as well as a small tunnel on the west (W) wall that can only be entered by small or smaller creatures.
2: All iron-wrought doors leading to the main chamber can be locked or not, depending on party's access to lockpicking skills.
3: Small chamber SW of main chamber can be accessed from small tunnel from (1), or through locked door. Contains puzzle dais and potentially loot in sarcophagus.
4: Small chamber NW of main chamber is hidden behind illusory wall (Detect magic detects, maybe rats run through it as hint). Contains puzzle dais and potentially loot in sarcophagus.
5: Camber directly N of main chamber has two puzzle daises: a real and the trap one. Potentially loot in sarcophagus.
6: Most of chamber NE of main chamber is blocked off by iron bars, with switch to lower them on the wall just S of them. This room is filled with all kinds of urns, jugs, vases, decanters, casks, etc., some of which are magically stoppered and sealed and contain Shadows, which attack if released (by things breaking). Chest in E end, and a puzzle dais in small sub-room just N of the bars.
7: A puzzle dais is hidden in the bottom of the small pool in the middle of the central chamber. Water is fairly cloudy after centuries of dust and dirt, so the dais is not immediately apparent.
8: Chamber to the SE appears to only hold sarcophagi, but a hastily/shoddily-built wall segment in the SW can be destroyed to reveal a lever. When the lever is pulled, the middle wall segment on the E wall slides into the ground, revealing a small secret room containing a chest and a puzzle dais.
9: The stairs down to the boss are flanked by dragon statues holding small platinum eggs. These can be taken as loot, but this is also a trap: the eggs will hatch during the boss fight, creating more Spirit Pseudodragons.
10: The large dragon statue in the boss's chamber is somewhat animate through magic, and provides Lair Actions for the boss (instilling Fear, using breath attack, etc)
The solutions to the puzzles are words that represent different aspects of dragons, and are the titles of Bahamut's seven advisors: (The) Wing, Claw, Eye, Fang, Presence, Tail, and Voice. The solution for the trap puzzle is Greed, and is a trap because this is an aspect of dragonkind that Bahamut does not hold in high regard.
