Description Central California Traction Company #1501 is an Electro Motive Division SW1500 built for the Southern Pacific in 1971 as SP 2610. The engine currently has a Nathan K3 Horn compared to the usual P3 that the SP used back in the day, when SP rebranded to UP in 1996, 2610 was renumbered to 1178 and repainted to the UP scheme. It would remain on UP until 2004, when the engine and 3 other siblings would be purchased by the CCT to supplement their GP7s and GP18s. The units would then be repainted to a special 100th Anniversary Scheme to celebrate the formation of the CCT in 1905, being painted by CEECO of Tacoma, Washington. The unit remains in service to this day.
