Description
Last time on UNSTOPPABLE:Will Colson is introduced to Frank Barnes and his mechanical friend, Ian (1206), however, Dewey, a rather reckless crewman, had caused a runaway to occur, since he forgot to switch his train to Automatic Mode, which would’ve allowed the engines of 119M to reverse the train. Now Jaden (777) and Boris (767) are heading for big trouble!
We left off with both Dewey and Gilleece failing to get to the 2 Red Rockets.
Ned Oldham, originally a railroad welder, was not far ahead. He had set the switch for 119M, thinking it was still ahead, however, he didn’t know that the train had actually passed him not long before he arrived.
Ned: The hell is that damn train?
He then sees the high rail with the ripped door.
Ned: Oh look. It’s Tweedle-Dumb and Tweedle-Dumber. Where the hell is that train you’ve sent flying?
Gilleece: Pah! Not like you care anyway!
Ned’s phone rings and he answers, it was Connie.
Connie: Hey Ned, any sign of 119M?
Ned: Hell nah! I was about to ask Dewey, but apparently HE and his idiot right hand man won’t answer me!
Connie facepalms herself.
Connie: Hand the phone to Dewey for a second…
Ned does that, making a remark, calling Dewey an asshat.
Dewey: Yeah?
Connie: What notch is it on…
Dewey: Pardon?
Connie: WHAT NOTCH WAS IT ON WHEN YOU HIT THE INDEPENDENT?
Dewey lets out a sigh.
Dewey: 8.
Connie: What mode is Jaden on?
Dewey: Manual.
Ned: You fucking serious?!
Connie: That train has MOLTEN PHENOL in those tankers! What have you done?!
Ned: Then what the hell am I doing here?! Fuck this shit! I’m heading over to the next town!
Turns out that the next town was in Ohio, Martins Ferry specifically.
Port Matilda, PA
Ian is slowly backing up into his cars. They’re meant to go to Chicago so that another train could take it west.
Will: 30…
Ian was in automatic mode at the time, with Frank over by the yard limit. Sentient trains like Ian can hear radio chatter from dispatch and other trains from the cab, which is why no one was in it.
Will: 20… 10… Aaaand you’re good.
Ian couples to his train and stops.
Will then gets on and Ian starts moving at a measly 5 MPH so that Frank could get on and regain control.
Will: So how are you able to roll by yourself?
Ian: It’s actually really simple. You see that control switch between my eyes in there? That switch was a thing on the Sacramento Northern over in California in their interurbans. Before that, engines were all kinda fighting for control over their drivers.
Will: Huh.
Frank climbs on, enters the cab, flips the switch to manual, and then takes control from there.
Meanwhile...
Martins Ferry, OH
Ned arrives to see that a dump truck got into a head on crash, blocking an intersection. He gets out to warn the officers and the people.
Ned: HEY!!! BACK UP!!! THERE’S A RUNAWAY COMING!!!
Officer 1: How do you know?
Ned: I’m a railroad official with the Baltimore & Southern! I was told!
Ned shows his railroad badge for proof.
Officer 2 then sees the train speeding towards them.
Officer 2: Shit! Thanks man! HEY EVERYONE!!! BACK UP!!! HEY!!!
The blocked cars did back up, but a truck with a horse carrier accidentally got the horse carrier stuck.
Jaden: OH GOD!!! THERE’S A TRUCK STUCK!!!
Boris: A WHAT?!
Jaden: BRACE FOR IMPACT!!!
Everyone was running away from their vehicles to avoid getting hit. The 2 horses in the carrier were also evacuated.
The 2 engines through the truck aside like a toy, causing a shard of metal to get stuck between one of Jaden’s wheels and one of his brake shoes. This makes a noise that sounded a lot like an angry elephant.
Jaden: OW!!! MY BRAKE SHOE!!!
That’s when the metal shard became so hot that it started to melt the brake shoe, harming Jaden more, and eventually, a chunk of one of his wheels came off with the tire being flung at a tree after damaging the wheels behind it. This made Jaden start to wobble as a quarter of his wheels were now damaged.
Jaden: WoAoAoAoAo!!!
By now, Jaden and Boris were really getting scared.
Back in Port Matilda, Ian was allowed control again by Frank.
Will: So, how long do you two go back?
Frank: Well, I have been here since 1982 on CSX. They saw that Ian and I formed a bond and when Ian was sold in 1988, I went with Ian to AWVR. Ian was built in 1980 like I said. Basically, we’ve been with one another since the beginning.
Ian: It’s also because of Frank that I got over my runaway in 2001.
Frank would’ve continued on, but that’s when he heard the dispatcher.
Dispatcher: 1206 Southbound. Come in. 1206.
Ian has his radio microphone moved over to Frank.
Frank: This is 1206, Frank Barnes here.
Dispatcher: You got a runaway. Dewey left 119M moving out of the yard and it’s heading north.
Will Colson: Coming straight for us.
Frank: Hmmm… How about setting the switch at CP Mallaby in Belair?
Dispatcher: You got time. Just need 10 cars. Repeat, 10 cars or more.
Ian: Jaden and Boris are runaways?! Shit!
Frank: What?
Ian: 119M consist of tankers with hazardous chemicals!
Will: Fuck me sideways! C’mon! Hurry!
They approach CP Mallaby, and that’s when they see the two Red Rockets.
Jaden: IAN?! SHIT!!!
Boris: UH OH!!!
Ian: YOINKS!!!
Ian was sent into Mallaby Siding, and luckily, they managed to get 10 cars in.
Connie was watching with the dispatchers.
Connie: YES!!!
Jaden: MIGHT WANNA BRACE BROTHER!!! WE AREN’T GONNA MISS THIS TRAIN!!!
Then, it happens. Jaden plows through the boxcar like snow, damaging his anti-climber device, his front grab-irons, and his remaining front wheels.
Ian meanwhile comes to a screeching halt.
Ian: WHAT ON EARTH WAS THAT?!
Frank: Those “Fireballs” smashed our last car to bits.
Will: Jesus Henry Christ. They were heading fast! We gotta stop them. If someone is thinking that that train is going off the tracks, they have yet to meet us!
Ian: I wanna save them too!
Frank: Oh don’t worry. I have a plan, and it involves all of us. We’re gonna stop it by backing it to it and applying the brakes. It requires work from all 3 parties. So, we in Ian?
Ian: You can count me in!
Frank: Will?
Will: Don’t need to ask me twice.
Frank and Will climb on Ian and the SD40-2 then starts chasing after the runaway.
A helicopter starts going to the scene.
News Chopper 7: We are here in Bellair, Ohio, chasing after Triple 7. We just received word that Triple 7 recently slammed into the back of another train, and that the locomotive of that train is heading towards it.
Over in Columbus, Judd Stewart, a 26-year veteran runs in and gets in Autumn.
Rachel, Andrew, and Erie were concerned.
Andrew: What the hell are you and Melissa doing?!
Autumn: We’re stopping 119M! I’m not gonna have my soulmate become razor blades!
Rachel: SERIOUSLY?! You’ll kill yourself trying!!! It’s too dangerous!!!
Erie: Agreed. Might wanna back off there guys.
Andrew: Let a stronger engine do it.
Autumn: I DON’T GOT TIME TO HEAR IT!!!
Judd: Sorry guys. We gotta go.
Judd quickly flips Autumn to Notch 8 and the 2 SD40s off.
They eventually arrive at the Pennsylvania state border waiting for the go.
Judd: This is Extra 7375 ready to stop 119M.
Dispatcher: Roger 7375. Clear to depart.
Autumn: LET’S DO IT!!!
Autumn blasts her horn and the screen cuts to black.
