I recommend installing this after you restore your files.
Btw, you can restore your original files by opening the ControlCenter and hitting restore original files, then restart, then install system files! Cheers, let me know if anything occurred!

LOL so that's why I didn't feel any changes (well except for the logon). I tried installing it without restoring my default files. But I'll try what you said!

The "Restore Original Files" button doesn't restore my files. I still have the theme this program gave me. Any idea on what I can do to restore everything?

A System Restore should do, I guess!
The theme is the only one remaining installed, because it has to avoid the "in use" state.

Well the system restore worked, but the authui.dll was still in use as well. Good work on the program though

I'm having an odd problem. I can get the installer to extract everything to C:\Temp, and the Control Center looks like it's installing things when I choose to install the full , but nothing actually happens other than the theme installation. If I chose to replace system files only, it would install the enhanced logon thing, and it would ask if I want to install the theme again, as the theme was already installed. Replacing the system files manually seems to work just fine.

What's odd is that the whole thing seemed to work the first time I tried; the problem was that I'd closed my unsigned themes service but forgot to disable it; everything seemed to install and work fine but as soon as I restarted the theme patcher came into conflict with the patched uxtheme file and created a whole mess, meaning I had to system restore and start over after disabling the unsigned themes service, at which point the things in the first paragraph happened.

I'm not sure if the issues are just my computer or what, but regardless, I really love this theme package even if it is something of a hassle.

Actually, it seems like it's only failing to copy/replace protected files or files in use, like the shell32 or wmploc DLLS, explorer.exe, etc. It seems that installation should be as simple as the installer renaming the old file as [filename].dll.bak and copying the new one into its place, but that doesn't seem to be the case, or at least not for me.

alexandru-r-ghinea In reply to fireemblemguy [2010-08-06 00:01:01 +0000 UTC]

Interesting thing you're reporting..I'm aware of that failing to copy/replace protected files or files in use.

I don't know for sure if the process ID is the same on each windows 7 machine(because, between different versions of windows the process id changes).
I was aware that a "in use file" can't be overwritten, so I've taken all the necessary process ID and assigned a task kill command to them, right before overwriting.

Have any suggestions?
