what really intrigues me here is the curling fingers in a lot of those hands. sort of like a subliminal hesitation when wishing for more.
the length of the limbs also brings references to Princess Monoke to my mind, and the forest god who transformed into and almost liquid, giant creature at night whose limbs could stretch for hundreds of yards.
hm. it's definitely something to contemplate.

at first I thought it was supposed to be a khamsa, like a passive wish for protection, but I guess that doesn't really have anything to do with it.

Visually, I find this one to be very interesting... I really like the overall mood, the textures and all...
That said, I think it doesn't quite fit "The patient"... To me, a raised hand has more to do with action, with the desire to be part of something... you know...something like "pick me, pick me, I wanna answer..." when we were at school... Doesn't feel like you're "gonna wait it out"...
Anyway... the artwork is cool, it looks great. Oh and... you're right : "Thank God for Tool."

Usually I dread responding to comments or explaining any of my work, but you bring up a valid, good point. So to explain:
Originally the piece was vertical, maybe that point got across a little more. But I like the visible detail in the wallpaper version. The length of the arms is supposed to represent time/longevity. The idea is that everyone is reaching out, waiting... and the hand in the front is being enlightened for doing so. He held in there and kept reaching out and was rewarded. Try to look at it from that point of view and, at least to me, it makes a lot of sense.

Yeah...you're right, it does make a lot more sense. 
Anyway... I know how annoying it is when someone tells you what you should and shouldn't have done with your art... so I promise to mind my own business from now on.
