Instad of this murky water there used to be a clear water stream with even some lobsters in it. But in the end of the 70s it was decided that this was an ideal place for an arificial lake and that much was true. its a deep valley with steep banks and having a lake in the bottom of it would be great. They started the bulding but then Moscow got the right to hold the olympic games and part of it, the sailing contest, was to be held in Tallinn. All the funds were pulled from this project midway when the lakebed was only partially ready and the damm was built in august 1980 leaving the lake as in this picture. Whole firtrees lying on their side brances sticking out, in places only a meeter deep and muddybottomed. For some time nearby towns sewerwater was directed into it without any cleaning. This ofcourse has changed now but then nobody really worried about the environment and the damage had already been done. In the second half of the summer the lake starts to smell. This is one of the most horrible ghots the union left behind.
