Eric wakes up from a nightmare he had while he was knocked out from the Ramiel fight. The first thing he saw when he woke up is Rei Ayanami, who tells him positive things. Harold returns and acts billergently towards Rei and Rei slaps him. Harold then asks if he can defeat the angel by himself, however, Ritsuko (who just showed up) warns Harold about how the fight with the angel cant be done alone and requires:

1. An EVA-unit holding a positron rifle
2. Another one to shield the one with the rifle
3. Yet another one to hold the angel off

Harold realizes he needs help from both Zwei and... someone else. At first, Harold suggests Eric help. However, Eric turns it down and Rei is chosen instead.(As Rei said to Harold: "Ill only help you if that means you wont be as annoying as you were")

Long story short, Unit-A is knocked out, Unit-03 runs out of ammunition, but Unit-00 throws its shield at Ramiel and kills it. Eric, who has been watching the whole thing, climbs to Unit-00s entry plug and gets inside. Rei is told a heartwarming speech and Rei smiles at Eric.
