I've been reading the X-Wing series lately and this just really hit home, helping me visualize how lots of ships in near proximity would look. I love the lighting and the detail is intense!

Beautiful job.
Altough you claim that the models are simple they are very convincing and the texture and details are very good. The photoshop work on the effects also.
The only thing the disturb me a litle is that the planet is very illuminated by a sun from above. Then even with another source of illumination bellow the ships I whoud expect some ligth coming also from the sun on the ships even if it was only reflexes as the sun seems to be above and behind the scene.
(Not that i whould do better, in no way... I have no idea how to model such a scene on software)

upon a closer inspection you can see the simplicity of the model meshes, but what really gets me is the textures. Verrry nice work there.

The composition is very very cluttered. I imagine it would take almost everyone at least a minute to just get an idea of what's going on in the scene.
