Description
Topgroup: Animalia
Megagroup: Invertebrates
Supergroup: Abyrab
Gloomers are a group within the Abyrab supergroup. The Gloomers are identified by their four front fins, clover shaped tail, white coloured carapace, lack of claws and of course most importantly a tentacle esque double pronged ballistic tongue. Only found inhabiting the deepest depths of the Ceruvian Ocean, these beasts are terrifying to any prey they come across, even though they are smaller than average their ballistic tongues shoot out fast and latch on hard, dragging anything small enough into its awaiting mouth where it will surely be consumed.
Gloomers have a favoured prey, Fish, especially of the Hugg variety. Deep sea hugg are somewhat rare but will be easy to find if you know the tricks and of course the Gloomers do. They can grab hold of multiple prey items at once as their tongs can act independently of each other. The Gloomers however do lack the Supergroups characteristic claws meaning they cannot impale of charge prey like other Abyrab can driving them into even further stages of ambush where in the deep dark they must strike fast before being stopped by the prey item.
The Gloomers are somewhat small compared to other Abyrab including the other Abyssal Abyrab, the Blindin, the Gloomers make up for this with their tongue, being able to deal hefty damage or death with it with ease the deadly weapon itself appears to be maybe of tougher stuff than an ordinary tongue.
