Narcissus, ReflectionOne of my professors gave me a short story and article about Narcissus and Echo in Ovid's Metamorphoses called "Tiresias Warns About Narcissus". You can read a portion of the story here: [link] It's only a page long. Anyways with that inspiration I created this triptych. I really wanted to play with mirrors like in the story and the idea of Narcissus and his realization of the projection of his image in the mirror.
I am attempting doing more work that was the landscape side of things to help connect the idea of a monitor to the actual images. I kinda cheated though since these are three portrait slammed together to form a triptych but that is one of my goals for the future. I get a lot of criticism for using the portrait format in my work too often. What do you think?
Stay tuned for two more triptychs, because why have only one when you can have three?
