But now drive the knife still home?
When did words once gentle cease
And strive to wound my mind?
Why did one who held me close
Break me down to watch me cry?
Who fingers dripping blood now tear
The lips they once caressed?
How do arms that once embraced
Now strangle out each breath?
When do tear drops cease to fall?
When will wounds no longer bleed?
What knife embedded to the hilt
Goes further still with need?
Again the questions circle round
My mind so bruised and torn
And I cannot help but ask
“Why?” just one time more.
