CAPTAIN’S OBSERVATIONS: Lysandrevanjahn, or Lysander as he’s come to be known, joined our crew two years ago, when he helped repair the Cobalt Solace after chartering transport on it. Lysander is a rare soul, an Ausk’phani who’s left the idyllic comfort of his homeworld. While Ausk’phani communicate with speech while young, adults typically communicate telepathically. Lysander, unable to broadcast or receive telepathy, found himself unable to participate in adult society. Tired of being infantilized, Lysander left home and has made himself invaluable during his time with us, even becoming fluent in English... though he still has difficulty with idioms, metaphors and similes. Of late, Lysander has taken to asking about human mating rituals. It hasn’t escaped my notice that Jaxon’s arrival coincides with these questions.
