Description Including 's Rhea and 's Ree

Ever since I made my new skin shaders, I've been emboldened and on a mission to make a hair shader update.  I have yet to get around to making a procedural eye shader but it's on my list of things to do as well.  Regardless, I think I've reached the point I'm happy with.

Originally, I made a hair shader update and made a post about it a few days ago.  At the time, I built the node tree with the textures as the baseline.  While it came out good, I wanted to make the hair look more like...well...hair, and less like hair cards.  But it wasn't as simple as slapping on the Principled Hair shader and I'm not quite ready/willing to take on learning real particle hair yet.  So I chipped away until I got this result which is completely procedural and only uses the alpha channel from the original texture to cut out the alpha map.  Not too bad, would you not agree?

Then there's the quality of life stuff but nobody cares about hearing that stuff lol

Anyway, I didn't just select these 4 randomly.  There's actually a reason why I showcased each of them as each presented a unique quality that I had to address.  Allow me to share.  By the way, I didn't do any post in PS on the images.  I just compiled them together and added my name on it.  The renders are straight out of Blender, though I didn't turn off the compositing nodes so there's some glare and CA applied but nothing else.  I didn't even bother to set the exposure correctly.

Kanna: Overall
This was the model I used to make all of my new shader setups so I felt it fair to showcase her.

Rhea: Pale/Makeup skin and dyed/very black hair
Because Rhea wears heavy makeup, is really pale and either dyes her hair black or has extremely black hair, I wanted to see if there were any changes I'd have to make to my skin shader setup.  Just some minor tweaks.

Marie: Bright/Blonde hair
I wasn't expecting any problems at this point except minor tweaks, but I still wanted to see how the new hair shader would do with blonde hair.  Luckily, as expected, no problems.  Just minor tweaks to get it right.

Ree: Hair highlights/Masking
I actually spent quite a while trying to figure out how to get highlights.  The highlights are in two parts; the first mask is just the bottom quarter and the second mask are the vertical streaks.  It's not perfectly accurate to the source material but I kind of like the result.

So now I must go about reshading my models slowly.  Like I said, I'll eventually get around to making a procedural eye shader but that's not something I want to tackle for a bit.  Making the skin and hair shaders made me wanna take a break from making shader trees lol.

Software Used: Blender -> Photoshop CC
