It's been a while since I made a double perspective photo but I thought it was time when I came up with this idea.Β I shot it around Christmas last year. It was a beautiful frosty day right before the snow came. Everything was shot outdoors except some smaller details in the image. Β I would love to hear your thoughts about it! Any technical improvements? Light, mood, message, objects? What does he do?What is the first thing that comes into your mind?

Great work, you have nailed the double perspective, I cant stop alternate between which way I view it. Love the mood of the image as well, the contrast draws you straight in. keep up the good work.

impressive. I was trying to figure out how did you do this, and i think the only thing that changes is the roof and ilumination from the sides, am i right?

Maybe I just watch too much Doctor Who, but my second thought (first being "Whoa!") was: oh, this is obviously a time lord architect of the tardis interiors - drawing all those simple "bigger on the inside" designs, living in a house of his own construction, "outside on the inside," with all the warmth and cozyness of being indoors and the space and view of being otdoors - of course he is called the Architect, just as Doctor is the Doctor.

I know what you mean, the way to make these illusions is to have all perspective lines to be parallel. Practically that would mean shooting something from a very very far distance. Since it's not really possible to do I have to place myself as far away as I can and then fix it slightly in post. The thing is that we are not used to look at something where the lines are parallel, it looks a bit off but that is the trick to make it look like it's both up and down at the same time. Not sure if I explained it the best way now but the parallel lines are critical to create a double perspective: erikjohanssonphoto.com/test/paβ¦

To make the perspective of the ground floor feel less off, it could help to use a different background picture where the horizon is higher. I think that way the parallel lines on the ground will appear more natural. On the other hand the roof will probably look more weird in that case.
