Description
I was once again dragged down to the pub. This time it didn’t bother me as much. I was more than happy to sit down and have a drinking contest with Cana and to have an arm wrestle contest with Laxus and Natsu. The games had been taking my mind off what was happening with my magic.I sat down across from Laxus with my beer. He was already half way through his fifth beer and I could see it in his eyes. He watched me with a careful eye. He leant forward nearly knocking over his own beer mug.
“Are you ready?” He whispered to me, the smell of beer reeked from his mouth.
I leant back in my chair to get away from his beer breath. “I think so; I don’t know how to be ready for this. I just wait for it to come around every two years. So are you ready?” I asked directing the question back at Laxus.
He moved back and I saw his eyes dart somewhere across the room. “Yeah, I have my eye on someone.” He said looking back at me.
I took a mouthful of beer. “By any chance is it Mirajane?” I asked.
Laxus glared at me. “Shut up, how’d you know?” He kind of slurred.
I gave off a small laugh. “I knew it, I’ve seen the way you check her out Laxus. You can’t help but stare at her.” I said with a grin.
Laxus shook his head ignoring my comments. He leant on the table and looked at me with a raised an eyebrow. “How about you miss I’m too good for a mate?” Laxus teased.
I looked away from him and quickly finished off my beer. “Oh, uh Natsu seems to want me. Oh arm wrestling contest, be over there soon.” I said getting up out of my seat.
Laxus grabbed me before I was able to get away. He pulled me back to his side. “Not so fast (Y/N). I’m not going to let you go until you tell your big brother.” Laxus chuckled darkly.
“I would kick you where the sun doesn’t shine but I can’t reach it.” I hissed to Laxus. I knew he wasn’t going to let me go anytime soon. I gave off a loud sigh and glared at Laxus. “Fine then, Rogue maybe Sting now can you let me go.” I whined.
“Oh so you’re going after the dragon slayers, ae?” Laxus teased. He let go of my arm. “Good luck.” He said turning back to his beer.
Cana dragged me into a drinking contest with her. She beat me, it didn’t bother me. I knew I was never going to be able to out drink her. I stumbled from the pub and down the road. I managed to get back to my room in one piece. I was about to go to bed when I remembered the promise I made Frosch.
I got changed into my sleepwear which was a blue nighty and picked up Bridgette. I stumbled over to Rogue’s door. I knocked on his door and leant against the wall for support. Sting walked up the stairs and stared at me strangely. I gave another knock at Rogue’s door.
Rogue opened the door half naked. He rubbed his eye as he looked at me. He looked at me up and down.
“I completely forgot you were coming over.” Rogue mumbled.
“That’s okay; can I still stay the night?” I asked with puppy dog eyes.
Rogue looked at Sting and then back at me. “Sure, come in (Y/N).” He said moving aside. “Have you been drinking?” He asked.
I stopped in the doorway with him. “Just a little.” I smiled at him. “Why do you want some?” I giggled as I carried on into his room.
Rogue closed the door shaking his head. I ran and jumped onto his bed. Frosch crawled onto my lap and made himself at home. Rogue looked at the small bed and gave off a sigh.
“I’m going to sleep on the couch.” Rogue said sitting down on the couch.
I pouted at him. “Don’t be like that. We can both fit in the bed.” I said happily.
Rogue rolled his eyes and joined me on the bed. We managed to work it out. As soon as my head hit the pillow I was fast asleep. Frosch and Bridgette were cuddled up close to me.
The next morning I was woken up by a knock at the door. I let out a groan and rolled over. My head was killing me; it served me right for drinking so much. I slowly opened my eyes as Sting walked in. I nearly jumped out of my skin.
I sat straight up and tried to cover myself even though I was wearing clothes. “What the hell are you doing in my room?” I shouted at Sting.
He closed the door behind him. He pointed to something behind me. I looked over my shoulder at Rogue who was just waking up. He gave me a small smile. I looked around the room freaking out. I looked under the covers and I was still wearing clothes.
“Did we do anything last night?” I asked Rogue quietly.
He shook his head. “No, you came in drunk mumbling about the sleepover Frosch and you organised. You fell asleep almost instantly.” Rogue explained.
I let out a loud sigh and smiled at him. I got out of bed and Bridgette sat on my head which was thumping. “Thanks for putting up with me last night Rogue. Sorry if I was any trouble.” I said walking out of the room.
I met up with the others, I looked like death and I felt like it. Natsu tried to keep his opinions to himself but he kept telling me how horrible I looked. Erza hit him a few times. I watched the chariot race and cheered on Natsu and Gajeel. Sting was also competing, I would catch a glimpse of him looking at me every now and then but I would just look away.
Laxus came up behind me. He put his hands on my shoulders. “He’s checking you out.” Laxus whispered to me.
I shrugged off his hands and carried on watching. Eventually it got to the fights. I didn’t pay much attention to them until Mirajane’s fight came up. It was a little strange at first but then again I wasn’t a pinup girl so I didn’t understand. The girls from Mermaid Heel joined in and then Lamia Scale. The first master of Fairy Tail started handing out swimsuits.
I was somehow dragged into it. I stood next to Levy not sure how to pose. It was awkward having this many people staring at me with such little clothes on. There were different categories and some of them were down right strange.
Finally we got to the wedding show off. I looked around in my white puffy wedding dress for someone but I didn’t have anyone. Even Panterlily had a partner. I gave off a sigh and stood next to Lisanna who was giggling at Natsu and Lucy. Lisanna put her arm around me and I did the same with her.
“We could always get married (Y/N)?” Lisanna joked.
I laughed with her. “But whose name would be taking?” I said joking around.
She shrugged. “I don’t know.”
The others returned to their seats and let Mirajane and Jenny carry on their fight. I went back to my ledge. I sat next to the first master. She smiled at me.
“You looked really nice in that wedding dress (Y/N). It’s a pity you haven’t found anyone yet, I’m sure you would make a lovely wife.” She commented.
I sighed. “It would be nice to have someone but I’m not looking for anyone right now.” I said.
“Don’t worry, that will change when someone pops up.” She giggled.
That night was quiet because I chose to stay away from everyone. I was doing dishes when a knock at the door came. I threw the tea towel at Bridgette before answering the door. Makarov stood on the other side. I moved to the side to let him in.
“What is it Master?” I asked.
“You have been given the chance to test out how strong your magic is but on one condition.” Makarov said.
I leant against the stove and looked at him. “What kind of condition?” I asked a little concerned.
“There is this magic device called a MPF which can tell you how strong your attack is. The catch is that you must do it in front of the whole arena. You will be introduced as Acnologia’s daughter and you will show what kind of dragon slayer magic you have.” Makarov explained.
I gave off a sigh and looked down. “Okay, I will do it.” I looked at Master. “On a condition of my own.” I said.
“What would that be?” He asked.
“If I start to change or people’s lives are in danger, kill me. Apparently once the change starts you can’t stop it. Master this is all I ask for; I don’t want to become like my father. Please do you promise me?” I asked.
He looked down. I had already seen the sadness in his eyes. “Normally I wouldn’t promise these things but I can see how much you don’t want to be like your father so I promise you.” Makarov looked up at with tears brimming his eyes.
“It hasn’t yet happened yet and it might not. I just want you all to be prepared for if it does happen.” I said.
“I will see you tomorrow (Y/N).” Master said before leaving.
I closed the door behind him. My hands were shaking. I was terrified. Tomorrow could be my last day alive and I had nothing to show for it. I slid down the door and buried my face in my hands. Tears ran down my face. Bridgette was fast asleep so she wouldn’t have to worry about me.
I got up and walked over to the veranda. I stepped into the night air and the cold air made it more realistic. I leant over the railing and watched people walk up and down the streets. They all smiled and laughed to one another. I shrunk down to the ground and looked up at the moon.
“Why me?’ I screamed at the top of my lungs.
The sound rung all through the land, a cry of a dying dragon.
