Description About half-way between the Quiet Village and the Hotlands (Frisk had decided to forgo riding with the Riverperson due to the tunnel between Snowdin and the Hotlands), Frisk received a phone-call from Papyrus.

"HOWDY!" Papyrus said. "IF IT ISN'T MY GOOD FRIEND, WHO TRUSTS ME."

"Bit of a stretch, but go on." Frisk said.

"THIS IS PAPYRUS. YOUR ALSO MUTUAL FRIEND. ALPHYS AND I FINISHED OUR TRAINING EARLY. VERY EARLY. SO I SENT HER HOME. VERY HOME. UH... NOW. I FEEL STRONGLY AND FOR NO APPARENT REASON. YOU SHOULD ALSO GO... THERE. TO HER. LAB... HOUSE. I HAVE ONLY GOOD FEELINGS ABOUT THIS. GOODBYE."

"Wait, Papyrus!"

The phone hung up.

What the hell was that all about? Papyrus was acting... strange... er.

Frisk stored the phone in his pocket and continued to the Hotlands.

Upon arriving, Frisk stood at the crossroads between Alphys's lab and the L1 elevator.

Papyrus said I should go see Alphys. Frisk thought, a bad taste forming in his mouth.

Contemplating for a few minutes, he eventually decided to swallow his distain and enter the laboratory.

Unlike when he'd visited her earlier, the lights were now on. Looking around the lower floor, he eventually came across a note pinned next to an open door near the exit. The handwriting on the note was atrocious.

"Hey." the note read. "Thanks for your help back there. You guys... Your support really means a lot to me. But... As difficult as it is to say this... You guys alone can't magically make my own problems go away. I want to be a better person. I don't want to be afraid anymore. And for that to happen, I have to be able to face my own mistakes. I'm going to start doing that now. I want to be clear. This isn't anyone else's problem but mine. But if you don't ever hear from me again... If you want to know 'the truth'. Enter the door next to this note. You all at least deserve to know what I did."

Frisk looked over at the door.

What you did? What skeletons are you hiding, Alphys? Is this why you're so annoying?

Frisk stepped over the threshold. The room beyond was a box. An elevator car. Frisk pressed the down button then turned around to face the opening.

As the doors were closing, the lights within the lab flickered dramatically and the doors stalled for just a second before everything stabilized and the doors closed completely. The elevator then started downward.

Finally, some answers. I hope.

After a few seconds, the elevator suddenly started accelerating downward and a light within the car turned red, flashing on and off as a siren blared.

"WARNING! WARNING! ELEVATOR LOSING POWER! EM TETHER STABILITY LOST! EMERGENCY BRAKE SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONING! ALTITUDE DROPPING!"

As the siren screamed, Frisk began rising in the car.

Frisk, wide-eyed at the experience, grasped at the floor of the elevator, trying to pin himself against it.
